US' Kerry says no decision yet on whether to seek UN vote on Syria

US Secretary of State John Kerry said Sunday from France the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian regime is considered as a violation to the international red line.

During a joint conference with the Qatari Foreign Minister Khaled al-Attiya, Kerry said that an agreement was reached with the Arab League stipulating that Syrian crisis requires a political solution.

Kerry added that the US will consider the French suggestion of possibly returning to the UN Security Council on Syria, stressing that President Barack Obama has not taken any decision on this issue yet.

For his part, the Qatari Foreign Minister urged the International Community to protect the Syrian people, adding that foreign intervention in the crisis has been taking place since the past 2 years.

On another note, al-Attiya said ongoing construction by Jewish settlers was an obstacle to achieving an Israeli-Palestinian peace deal.

"There are several obstacles to this process. We are talking about settlements," the Qatari FM said at the joint conference after meeting with representatives from the Arab Peace Initiative.

The Arab Peace Initiative, put forward by Saudi Arabia at an Arab League summit in Beirut in 2002, offered full recognition of Israel but only if it gave up all land seized in the 1967 Middle East war and agreed to a "just solution" for Palestinian refugees.
