Iran oil minister says Hormuz just war game

Iran does not intend to close the Straits of Hormuz as part of a military exercise, Iranian Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi said.

Qasemi said the Iranian military was war gaming but had no intention of actually closing the Straits, through which large volumes of Gulf oil is shipped.

"Why would we do that," said Qasemi before the start of an OPEC meeting. Oil markets leapt on Tuesday on speculation that an Iranian military exercise would close the Straits for a day.
