US Secretary of State Kerry meets Israeli FM Lieberman

John Kerry met Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman in Jerusalem on Friday as part of the US Secretary of State's tenth trip to the Middle East to negotiate a peace deal between Israelis and Palestinians.

Kerry was expected to travel to the West Bank later on Friday for talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

The US Secretary of State is asking Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Abbas to make tough, highly-charged political decisions in hopes of narrowing differences on a framework that will outline a final peace pact.

Negotiations are entering a difficult phase aimed at creating a Palestinian state alongside Israel.

Kerry arrived in Jerusalem on Thursday.
