Israeli soldiers, Palestinians clash in Hebron
A Palestinian medical official says at least two protesters have been injured in clashes with Israeli soldiers in the biblical West Bank city of Hebron.

Aid Jabari says the injured were hit by rubber bullets during a protest Friday to mark the anniversary of the closure of a shopping street that runs along Jewish settler compounds. The Israeli military says three protesters were arrested for throwing rocks.

The military closed Shuhada street, citing security reasons, after a 1994 attack in which a settler shot and killed 29 Muslim worshippers at a mosque.

Palestinians say the central street's closure is disruptive and helps cement Israeli control over the area.

Tensions run high in Hebron where about 500 Israelis live amid 170,000 Palestinians.
