Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday the United States and European Union do not support a consensus government and reforms in Ukraine that would include all sides. "We must have a dialogue and not exclude anyone," he said during a visit to Tunisia, speaking through a translator. "Our position is clear on this and won't change." Russia hopes its Western partners will not impose sanctions against Moscow over its actions in Ukraine, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said. "We hope our partners will understand our position," he told reporters during a visit to Tunisia, adding that Russia's moves in Ukraine's Crimea region had been right. "Nobody has a right to be angry with Russia. The European Union and the United States did not fulfil their obligations in Ukraine," he said, speaking through a translator. Lavrov also said Ukraine needed a comprehensive dialogue not excluding anyone. Tunisian Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaa met on Tuesday Russian FM Sergei Lavrov.
A statement by the Tunisian Foreign Ministry said Russia’s Lavrov is on a two-day visit to Tunisia for talks with the North African nation's officials.
"The visit comes within efforts to boost friendship and cooperation between the two countries," the statement added.
Lavrov is also expected to meet Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki. REUTERS/LBCI
