A source at the Police Command told SANA that the explosion caused the injury of three citizens, and left material damage on site.
Meanwhile, units from the Syrian armed forces continued their operations in the old city of Homs and regained control over a building near the Mar Girguis Church.
A military source also told SANA that army units confronted an armed group that tried to attack a military checkpoint near Akiribate roundabout in the Shaar Mountains. More than 150,000 people have been killed in Syria's conflict, which started when protests against his rule erupted in March 2011, inspired by uprisings across the Arab world. Demonstrations were put down by force and the uprising became an armed insurgency which now pits mainly Sunni Muslim rebels and foreign jihadis against forces loyal to Assad, who is from Syria's Alawite minority - an offshoot of Shi'ite Islam.
