VIDEO: Woman jailed for attacking an elderly man who later died in hospital
A woman was jailed on Tuesday after being caught on camera attacking an elderly Sikh man who later died in hospital.

Coral Millerchip, 20, attacked 80-year-old Joginder Singh and spat in his face during the shocking daylight assault.

She was arrested after mobile phone footage of the attack was posted on YouTube and went viral on social media platforms.

It showed Millerchip, who was 19 at the time, fleeing the scene in Coventry, northwest of central London, leaving her victim lying dazed on the floor.

Mr Singh, who suffered from dementia, was transferred to hospital following the assault and later discharged.

But he was re-admitted weeks later for treatment of a previously diagnosed condition and died three months after the attack.

Millerchip was jailed for two years after admitting assault and ABH at Warwick Crown Court.

She received a further 20 months behind bars after pleading guilty to an unconnected burglary charge.

The court heard Millerchip "took exception" to Mr Singh touching her in a non-sexual manner as they passed in the street.

Judge Sylvia de Bertodano told her: "He was an elderly gentleman who you could just have walked away from but you violently assaulted him.
"Although he wasn't able to express very much about it, he was severely affected by it.”
