Abbas to pay a visit to Doha, to meet Qatar Emir, Hamas exiled leader Meshaal
Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas is set to make a trip to Doha on Wednesday and hold talks the next day with the emir of Qatar as well as with the Hamas exiled leader, Khaled Meshaal.

On Thursday, Abbas will discuss separately with Meshaal and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani the latest developments in the negotiations taking place in Cairo and "aid and reconstruction" efforts in Gaza.

From Doha, Abbas is scheduled to travel to Cairo as part of contacts the Palestinian leadership is holding "with all the parties concerned" in the Israel-Palestinian conflict.

A new 24-hour ceasefire in Gaza will last until midnight on Tuesday under a last minute deal reached in Cairo on Monday night.

Egyptian mediators have been pushing Israel and Palestine to put an end to weeks of bloodshed in Gaza, which has killed more than 2,000 Palestinians and 67 on the Israeli side.
