Couple accused of child neglect after leaving girl asleep in car

A man and woman from central Florida are accused of child neglect after a child was found sleeping in their vehicle while they shopped at a Kohl's department store.

Lake County sheriff's deputies say 70-year-old Wilfredo Garcia and his 69-year-old wife Esperanza Garcia were arrested Monday night.

WESH reports a bystander called 911 after seeing the child sleeping inside the car. All the windows were closed.

Deputies say the girl was sweating.

Authorities didn't say how the child was related to the couple.

The Garcias were released after posting bail. Jail records didn't indicate whether they've retained an attorney.
