After five years of efforts and determination, photographer Joe Broyles, 61, managed to capture a spectacular, rare image of a jet travelling at the speed of sound.
His stunning image features an F-18 Super Hornet 2 jet with a vapor cone forming around it.
The cone lasted just tenths of a second, and is formed when an aircraft reaches ‘transonic velocity’ – the speed of sound (766mph).
The photo was taken at the Oceania Naval Air Station in Virginia Beach, USA, on September 21.
According to Carters News Agency, Broyles admitted he needed some luck to capture the shot after attending multiple air shows over the last five years without it.
