Islamists win in Kuwaiti National Council elections, women left out

Kuwaiti opposition, led by Islamists parties, won the majority of Parliamentary seats in the National Council’s elections on Friday. Islamists won 34 seats out of the 50 parliamentary seats.

According to official results, the opposition won 34 seats, including 23 for Islamists candidates from the Muslim Brotherhood and the Salafist movement.

This victory meant a great loss for the liberals. One worthy development was that women were left out of with no parliamentary seats.
