From cheesy to spectacular- the world celebrates a day of love

On this day of the year dedicated to celebrate love all around the world, flowers are the way to do it. Flower stores, worldwide, count on this romantic occasion, St. Valentine’s Day, to boost their revenues. In fact, Dutch flower shops registered 60% higher sales than any other day.

Young people in Iran also celebrated this happy occasion, even though it is considered a western tradition, with stores displaying gifts, flowers and chocolate. Meanwhile, others preferred to celebrate a similar occasion known as Sepandarmazgan on February 18 that values friendship.

In Belgium, Volkswagen Beetle owners expressed their love by gathering more than 160 of the lovable German icons and driving them through the streets.

In Peru, 600 couples chose this day to say their I do’s in a mass wedding.

In Indonesia, two fiancées chose to arrive at their wedding ceremony not in a limo, rather on the back of an elephant.

In the Philippines, a number of police officers got the green light to enter holy matrimony at the same day.

In the antipodean capital of Sydney and standing at 30 meters above the ground on the legendary Sydney harbor bridge, a couple committed to each other for better and for worse.

Even if love is exchanged differently in every country, the language of love remains universal.
