Russian Foreign Ministry voices concern over escalating tensions in Lebanon
Russian Foreign Ministry voiced concern over escalating tensions in Lebanon on Monday.     

“It seems that the forces that were unable to achieve their plans to destabilize Syria turned to Lebanon”, the Ministry said.    

The Ministry said in a statement that these forces obviously do not like Lebanon’s approach aimed at preventing any foreign meddling in the Syrian internal affairs and contributing to the peaceful settlement in Syria as soon as possible, based on Kofi Annan’s peace plan, endorsed by the Security Council.      

Russia added that these forces do not like the efforts of the military and special forces who are preventing arms smuggling and the infiltration of gunmen into Syria. Therefore, these forces are fueling disputes between the various Lebanese political forces and confessions.
