Zebari: Russian-American understanding on political transition in Syria
Reactions still follow the UN brokered peace plan for Syria, as Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari stated on Monday that that there is “some kind of understanding between Russia and the United States on the process of political transition in Syria”.          

He added that Iraq supports the stances regarding a political transition in Syria and the formation of a national unity government. In an interview with Al-Hayat Daily published on Monday, Zebari stressed on the need of dialogue between both parties.               

Zebari denied that the Iraqi position on Syria [in the Geneva summit] came close to that of Russia, and pointed out that the stance of his country is  both independent and balanced.  "Iraq’s role in the summit was to bring its own experience to that table, in hopes of harboring a suitable solution", he said.
