Death toll rises to 46 in Pakistan blast
At least 46 people were killed and 50 injured in a suicide bomb attack Thursday in northwest Pakistan, a media report said.

According to Deputy Inspector General Malakand Division Akhtar Hayat, the explosion took place when locals were attending funeral prayers.

The attack occurred around 3 p.m. at the funeral of a pro-government local elder in a village in Jandol area, close to the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

Many civil militiamen leaders were participating in the funeral and were targeted, as they are leading the local people in the fight against militants, said the report.

All the injured people were transported to a local hospital. Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani condemned the suicide blast.
