US submarine sank Iran warship in Indian Ocean: Pentagon chief

A U.S. submarine torpedoed and sank an Iranian warship in the Indian Ocean, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Wednesday.

"An American submarine sank an Iranian warship that thought it was safe in international waters. Instead, it was sunk by a torpedo," Hegseth told reporters.

Nearly 150 were missing and several dead after the frigate IRIS Dena sank on Wednesday off Sri Lanka, officials said.
