Clinton convinces Lavrov of adopting UN resolution against Syria
U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton tried to convince her Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov that a U.N. resolution would be essential to face the violent crackdown in Syria.

A U.S. diplomat said that Clinton called on Lavrov to think deeply about the role that the U.N.Security Council could play at a time when the Syrian government is killing its people and unjustly imprisoning thousands.

During talks held in New York on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly, Lavrov reiterated that the best way forward would be a dialogue between Syrian President Bashar Assad and theopposition.
