2 Qaeda militants killed and 18 arrested in Southern Yemen
Yemeni Army Forces and the people’s committees in the southern province of Abyan in Yemen reported on Sunday that 2 Qaeda militants of Somali and Pakistani nationalities were killed during cleansing operations in Jaar area, launched by the army forces and the committees. The sources added that 18 other militants were arrested during these operations.           

Since May 2011, the military has led an offensive against an al-Qaeda-affiliated Islamist uprising in the southern province of Abyan.
