REPORT: Obama returns to the White House where pending issues await him

The joy of victory in the Presidential elections did not last long as President Barack Obama returned to the White House where world issues await him for another four years, particularly the financial crisis which may cause an economic recession in case the Congress, divided between Democrats and Republicans, fails to reach an agreement regarding new financial measures.                  

On the global level, Obama will be facing many pending crises, starting with the Syrian crisis, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the Iranian nuclear program.                    

In this context, during his participation in a forum about democracy in Indonesia, the Iranian President denounced the American elections in which Obama won, noting that “it is a battle of capitalists.”                             

Meanwhile, advisor to the Head of Iranian Judiciary for International Affairs Mohammad Jawad Larijani declared that negotiations with the US are not forbidden, stressing that “Iran is ready to negotiate with Satan for the interest of the system.”                       

On the other hand, Obama’s victory triggered a chain of reactions, as the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz congratulated the American President, while the Russian Foreign Affairs declared that his country is ready to cooperate with the new Obama administration.                           

Sudan welcomed the reelection of Obama, calling for resumption of dialogue with the US, while Taliban Movement called on Obama to admit the US defeat in the war against Afghanistan and demanded the immediate withdrawal of the US forces.                         

On the Lebanese scene, former PM Saad Hariri, Fouad Siniora and Kataeb party leader Amin Gemayel sent letters to Obama congratulating him on his reelection.
