Saudi King appoints 30 women to the Shura Council

Saudi King Abdullah allocated on Friday 20% quota for women in the Shura Council and appointed 30 women representatives.

This move was described as a historic first in the ultra-conservative kingdom.

The king has issued two decrees; the first amending the council's statute to allow women to be members while the other named the 150 members, among them 30 women.
