Ayatollah Khamenei addresses Iranians on Persian New Year, calls for further defiance

Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called on the Iranian people on the occasion of the Persian New year to stand up to the Western economic sanctions and said that if Iranians show more willingness to face the western pressures, the coming year will witness “a thriving political and economic era”.
In a recorded message broadcast on state television, Khamenei said that the year will be full of new developments, activities, and skills and warned that “the enmity of enemies will not subside".

Khamenei added that increasing economic pressures on Iran did not succeed and stressed that the economy, which has struggled with high inflation and unemployment, was further stricken in 2012 by increasingly severe U.S. and EU sanctions targeting its vital oil and financial sectors.
