Muallem criticizes Arab League letter
Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem criticized a letter he received from the Arab League at a late hour Friday evening.  

“The stances expressed in the letter were ill-founded and based on lies spread by the media regarding violence in Syria during the past few days”, a source close to the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs quoted Muallem as saying.     

The sources also cited Muallem as saying that the Head of the Arab League ministerial committee, which issued the letter according to the media, should have contacted the Foreign Minister to hear the official account before announcing the committee’s stance. Muallem slammed the committee for basing its stance on biased incitement rumors spread by media outlets.  

According to the source, Muallem voiced surprise that this letter was sent one day ahead of the meeting between the Syrian government and the Arab League ministerial committee that is supposed to be held in Doha.
