Lebanese businessman Takieddine arrested in France

A source reported on Thursday that French police seized Franco-Lebanese businessman Ziad Takieddine who is being probed in a political-financing scandal over suspicion of attempting to flee France.

The source added that the businessman is banned from leaving France as investigations into the "Karachi affair" continue, saying that he paid $260,000 for a diplomatic passport from the Dominican Republic.

The businessman is also accused of several scandals in France, some of which involve former President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Takieddine claims that he has proof that former President Sarkozy received illicit funds from Libya's former leader Moamer Kadhafi in 2007.

Takieddine is also accused of money laundering and corruption cases.
