US jury finds Trump Org. guilty of tax fraud scheme
A jury convicted former US President Donald Trump’s company on several tax fraud charges on Tuesday in a New York court.
The jury found the Trump Organization guilty on all 17 counts, including tax fraud and other financial crimes, after deliberating for one day.

Prosecutors claimed that company executives came up with a plan to evade taxes that included making "indirect" payments to top officers for things like school tuition, housing, and cars. The decision was reached following a three-year investigation by the prosecution. Trump was not personally on trial, but during the trial, prosecutors claimed that he was aware of the company's fraud, a claim he has denied.
The Trump Organization was charged with scheming to defraud, conspiracy, criminal tax fraud and falsifying business records. The guilty verdicts mean it will now face a $1.6 million fine.
The prosecution’s star witness was the Trump Organization’s former chief financial officer, Allen Weisselberg, a longtime executive at the company who pleaded guilty to 15 counts in August.
Lawyers for the Trump Organization argued during the trial that Weisselberg was solely to blame.
