Layoun to LBCI: We cannot accept that Christians be viewed as orphans
Culture Minister Gaby Layoun said that the party that ignited the government’s crisis should assume the responsibility of solving it. Layoun denied having information about contacts being held to bring the cabinet sessions back.

Layoun told Nharkom Said that making Christians look like orphans is unacceptable, adding that what is applied for other confessions should be applied for Christians as well.

“We should be in the atmosphere of appointments, especially those regarding Christians, before putting them on the cabinet table”, Layoun said, adding that the solution lies in PM Mikati’s commitment to the Lebanese constitution.

“Why can’t Justice Minister Chakib Qortbawi suggest a candidate for the High Judicial Council?” he wondered.

On the wage adjustment issue, Layoun said that Labor Minister Charbel Nahas did not sign the transportation allowance decree “because it is illegal”.
