REPORT: Two LAF soldiers killed, several wounded in ongoing clashes in Tripoli

Two soldiers were killed and 6 were injured on Monday during an attempt carried out by Lebanese Armed Forces to enter Tripoli’s Bab al-Tebbaneh, noting that sniping operations are still taking place as raids are being carried out by the LAF on Tripoli's Syria street.

On the other hand, demonstrators cut off roads in the city to protest against targeting the Lebanese Army members.

Earlier in the day, intensified sniping operations took place on various axes in Tripoli, following clashes that erupted on Sunday between Bab el-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen.

Citizens Mohammad Rai, Bilal Salman al-Kabou, Salem Youssef, and Mohammad Khadouj were reported injured.

This as, Lebanese Armed Forces reopened the highway that links Tripoli to Akkar, and are currently carrying out raid in various areas across the northern Lebanese city.

Meanwhile, most schools and universities closed their doors due to the sporadic sniping and clashes taking place in Tripoli.

In the same framework, the sound of heavy artillery was heard during the funeral of citizen Abdel Kader al-Ahmad who was killed during the clashes.

Sunday’s clashes left Mohammad Youssef and Abed Kader al-Ahmad killed and 26 other persons injured including two LAF members and another Internal Security Forces’ member.

On Sunday, Sheikh Salem Rafei denied what was reported by media outlets saying that clashes broke out after the death of 12 members of his supporters in Syria’s Qussair.

In turn, the head of the political committee at the Arab Democratic Party Refaat Ali Eid told LBCI that he was expecting these clashes as a response to the attacks in Syria’s Qussair.
