German girl buried by rock fall
German rescuers are searching for a 10-year-old girl who was buried by a rock fall while out hiking with her family along a picturesque beach.

Carina Schmidt, spokeswoman for regional authorities, says stormy weather has made the search for the girl difficult, the news agency dapd reported Tuesday.

The girl, who was not identified, was hiking with her family on Monday afternoon along the beach at the northern-most point of the Baltic Sea island of Ruegen when a mass of stone and earth broke off the cliff above and came crashing down upon the family. The girl's mother and older sister were injured.

Two lighthouses sit atop the chalk cliffs at the Cape Arcona point, making it and the sandy beach beneath it popular destinations for tourists.
