Shura Council to take final decision on wage adjustment Tuesday
According to information provided to LBCI, the State Shura Council will take a final decision on the wage increase decree on Tuesday. This decision will be preceded by a meeting between the head of the Council Judge Chukri Sader and Labor Minister Charbel Nahas.

The meeting between both parties is not a first; in fact, several meetings were held in the past few days after Minister Nahas tried to draft a decree that is not “refundable” by the Shura Council. The Labor Minister effectively drafted a new decree last Friday, but, according to LBCI, it was not better than the ones before.
Sources from the Shura Council said that only the legal form will pass, and nothing else, adding “we are not involved in the political disputes and we cannot make citizens wait longer”.

However, should the Labor Minister’s wage adjustment decree be passed by the Shura Council, it will bump into the position of PM Najib Mikati.
In this regard, Economy Minister Nicolas Nahas told LBCI that the agreement between employers and workers is the valid legal form of a final agreement on the minimum wage increase and wage adjustment. He reassured workers that they will get the wage increase they deserve very soon.
