Cabinet approves 30 million LBP for families of Achrafieh disaster victims
During its ordinary session held in Baabda Palace on Monday, the cabinet approved 30 million LBP aid to the family of each victim of building that collapsed on Sunday in Fassouh, Achrafieh. The cabinet also provided an accommodation allowance for those who lost their homes in the disaster and formed an investigation committee led by PM Najib Mikati.

Before the session, Deputy Prime Minister Samir Moqbel said that the ongoing rescue operations in Achrafieh’s collapsed building will end on Tuesday.
In turn, Interior Minister Marwan Charbel said that humanitarian organizations have offered to accommodate the Achrafieh tragedy’s survivors, highlighting the necessity of launching a comprehensive survey of Lebanon’s old buildings.

As for Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour, he explained that diplomatic formations are not on the cabinet’s agenda, describing his visit to Libya as “good.”

Public Works Minister Ghazi Aridi highlighted the necessity of settling the wage issue, describing the current imbroglio as “shameful”.

A meeting between President Michel Sleiman and PM Najib Mikati preceded the session to discuss the latest developments.
