Mikati grants Lahoud National decoration of the Cedar, Grade of Officer

PM Najib Mikati attended the funeral of late MP and Minister Naseeb Lahoud at St. George's Cathedral, Downtown Beirut.

MP Abdul-Lateef az-Zein, represented Speaker Berri at the funeral. Maronite patriarch Beshara Rai led the mass in the presence of senior political figures and top army and security figures.

During the funeral, Rai listed Lahoud's achievements as a leading statesman and staunch liberal-democrat. He described him as “an ardent patriot who would be missed very much by like-minded genuine patriots.”

Following the funeral, Mikati granted the National decoration of the Cedar, Grade of Officer, to Lahoud on behalf of president Michel Sleiman, saying “allow me to pay tribute and bow with honor to a man who is an example of national values.”
