Iran inks agreement to supply power to Iraq, Syria, Lebanon

Iran signed a memorandum of understanding on Saturday to increase its power exports and provide energy to Lebanon, Iraq and Syria.

IRNA reported that the memorandum was signed on Saturday by Iran’s Deputy Minister of Energy, Mohammad Behzad, the Advisor to Iraq’s Minister of Electricity, Adel Mahdi, the Syrian Minister of Electricity, Hesham Moshfaj, and Head of Lebanon’s Power Transmission Department, Najib Saleh.

In an address to reporters after the signing, Behzad said that Iran’s electricity export will rise from the current 1000 megawatts to 1200-1300 megawatts, part of which will be allocated to Syria and Lebanon.

He added that the four-party plan will be implemented within the next two months.
