Bassil confirms his rejection to subsidize red diesel

Energy Minister Gibran Bassil showed the documents and numbers that confirmed his rejection to subsidize red diesel without ratifying it as a law at the Parliament.

During a press conference he held at the ministry, Bassil said that political blocs and MPs are the ones behind what happened with the red diesel issue as some of them were adamant to subsidize it. “I already said that this would help merchants, not citizens”.

Bassil announced that an investigation committee will be established to look into the significant diesel wastage which accounts for around 210 billion LBP.
