Lebanese oil expert released after being kidnapped in Yemen

Lebanese Ambassador to Yemen Hassan Akkar told LBCI that Lebanese oil expert Marwan Walli Eddine who was kidnapped two days ago in Maerb province of eastern Yemen was released.

Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a statement accusing Ahmad Jilani, the leader of a Maerb tribe, of abducting Walli Eddine.

The Lebanese national was coming from Sanaa and heading towards the headquarters of Safer Oil Company in the province of Maerb.

The statement added that preliminary information indicates that the abduction was carried out after undisclosed demands made by the tribe were not met by Safer Oil.

“The Ministry of Interior will exert all needed efforts to recover the abducted Lebanese”, the statement stressed.
