Lebanese court drops case against LBCI, lifts ban on video publication

Lebanon’s Public Prosecutor at the Court of Cassation, Judge Ahmad Rami el-Hajj, has issued a decision ordering no legal action against LBCI, citing the absence of any criminal elements, and closing the file on the case. The decision also revoked a previous order banning the publication or circulation of the video in question.

The ruling further called for legal measures to be taken against Ali Mohammad Barakat and Alaa Mohammed Abu Jabal over a caricature deemed offensive to Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros al-Rahi.
