Javanfekr: Iran hopes Lebanon will attend meeting on Syria
Media advisor for the Iranian President Ali Akbar Javanfekr said on Tuesday that a meeting on Syria will be held in the Islamic Republic of Iran this month, voicing hope that Lebanon will be in attendance.

“Even if circumstances do not allow for Lebanon to participate, Iran will brief the Lebanese government on the decisions and issues raised during the meeting”, Javanfekr said following his meeting with Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour.

The media advisor stressed that Lebanon and Iran share a joint approach to the different political events in the region.

Javanfekr refused to name the countries taking part in the meeting and whether Russia is amongst these countries, saying: “This matter is yet to be settled, however efforts to pave the way for discussions and exchange of points of view between a number of concerned countries are under way. What matters is that we want to make a positive move regarding this subject”.

According to Javanfekr, through the many accomplishments of the past, the Syrian government has responded to the “rightful and just” demands of the people.

“The Syrian state is carrying out all needed political reforms”, Javanfekr said, underscoring the importance of securing a calm and stable atmosphere for these reforms.
