Geagea: Aoun left his country to the wolves and not worthy of honor
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea criticized on Wednesday the Free Patriotic Movement chief MP Michel Aoun’s statements, saying that his “disastrous” tenure in rule has been rife with corruption.

“Aoun is the last person entitled to speak about honor”, Geagea told Lebanese radio station Free Lebanon.

Geagea’s statements came in response to remarks made by Aoun during Tuesday’s press conference when the head of the FPM criticized Geagea for speaking against Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai.

“He who leaves his country to the wolves in 1990 and flees to France leaving behind his family and 400 of his soldiers, does not worthy of honor” Geagea said.

Geagea went on to say “I heard the rest of the patriarch’s speech and I consider that it does not justify him saying that the closest thing to democracy in the region was Syria. If patriarch Rai speaks incomprehensible phrases, it does not mean that other ones he said have lost their meaning”.

Geagea’s statement comes in response to Rai who had earlier asked him to listen to all of his speech instead of an integral part of it.

“Even if Rai said right after his statement that the people’s demands need to be heard, it does not cancel out the phrase before it”, Geagea added.
