Chammas to Bassil: We are not the mafia
The head of the Petroleum Importing Companies Maroun Chammas said that the oil sector is a main economic sector with an important impact on the budget. It provides it with around $1 billion.     

“Accusing our sector of being a cartel and a mafia is unacceptable since we are not so”, he said.         

The Petroleum Importing Companies held a press conference in response to Energy Minister Gibran Bassil, in the presence of Sami Brax, head of gas stations owners’ union and Ibrahim Sarini, head of the tanker owners’ union and advisor Fadi Abu Chacra.
