Nahhas: We will not await the issuance of a food safety law
Economy Minister Nicolas Nahhas confirmed on Monday that he is currently undertaking additional measures to avert a repeat of the rotten food scandal, confirming that he will not await the issuance of a food safety law.

Following the parliamentary economic committee meeting, Nahhas said that the state of panic prevailing over the country should stop, adding that the circulated lists revealing names of tourist enterprises, hotels and restaurants are “fake” and harm both the economic and political spheres.

In turn, MP Nabil de Freij announced that the parliamentary economic committee has begun investigating the issue, explaining that the lists are fabricated as he confirmed that “the sole positive thing in what happened is that the market has been cleared of rotten products.”
