The army is committed to arresting all wanted suspects in the eastern Bekaa region of Baalbek as part of the raids it carried out yesterday.
The Lebanese Armed Forces Command issued on Monday a statement whereby it declared that one soldier was killed and four others were injured in an armed clash with fugitives in northeast Lebanon.
The statement added that a number of fugitives were also injured in the exchange of fire, which took place after the Lebanese Army carried out raids in Dar al-Wasaa, near Baalbek, in search of wanted members from the Jaafar clan.
Later in the day, eight of the armed men who partook in the clashes handed themselves over to the army after soldiers managed to encircle a house they were hiding in.
The fugitives were wanted for their links to the murder of a married couple in the Baalbek town of Btedaii last year.
