Civil Defense volunteers agreed not to leave to Syria after receiving promises making their full-time employment demands, a first priority at the next cabinet’s meeting.
Civil Defense volunteers had previously announced their bid to head to Syria, joining the humanitarian organizations there, after the Lebanese officials failed to meet their demands.
Before Departing to Syria, the volunteers had staged a sit-in in downtown Beirut, where they disclosed that “some officials” had urged them to back down on their decision.
The volunteers had been holding protests to demand the Cabinet to pass the decrees necessary to make them full-time employees with financial and social security benefits.
