The Labor Ministry declared on Monday that “it has been regularly receiving complaints filed by private sector employees who have been subject to harassment acts aiming at pushing them to resign from their jobs.”
The ministry added that several companies are resorting to firing employees often without valid reasons and without informing the Labor Ministry, which has been entrusted by the law to be formally informed of any decision to lay off any employee from the private sector institutions, as a form of respect to the rule of legal discussions concerning imperative reasons.
In a statement, the ministry noted that it is well aware that the administrations of private sector institutions and companies, mainly banks, are aware of the need to cooperate and present job opportunities for the Lebanese people, amid a strong competition caused by the heavy influx of foreigners in Lebanon, whether they were refugees or illegitimate residents.
This situation has forced the Lebanese to apply for immigration in search for a decent life abroad, the statement added.
