Riad Salameh: Lebanese banks are intact, national currency stable

Governor of Banque du Liban Riad Salameh explained Wednesday that his confidence in the banking sector has enabled Banque du Liban to ensure funding for the private and public sectors and has allowed it to encourage local demands.

In a speech he delivered during the inauguration of "The Arab Banking Integration Conference in Beirut", Salameh stressed that the Lebanese banks are intact, noting that Lebanon’s banking policy will remain adamant on preventing any bank from reaching bankruptcy.

The governor added that the Lebanese pound has been maintaining stability, pointing out that the capabilities of Banque du Liban and the baking sector have allowed the national currency exchange rate to remain stable.

“The national currency’s stability is the pillar for a stable and sustainable economy,” he stated.
