Introduction to the evening news 12-04-2012
Will April 12 be the beginning of the end of the Syrian crisis or a truce between two rounds?

Today’s test was not enough to give a definite answer given that the difference between the Syrian and U.S. evaluations was obvious. While Damascus gave the impression that the ceasefire was exhaustive, diplomats in New York quoted Annan as saying that, at the technical level, Damascus did not commit to the peace plan; however the fragile ceasefire presents an opportunity that should be seized.

The fragile situation prompted the U.N. envoy Annan to urge the Security Council to call on the Syrian regime to withdraw its forces from cities and towns.

Meanwhile, the interior ministry urged the Syrians to obtain a permit to demonstrate before holding demonstrations.

On the Lebanese scene, Lebanon is once again in the holiday season ahead of the legislative week that is expected to be heated particularly at the financial level, especially after the emergence of the issue of 8.9 trillion LBP to cover the 2011 expenditure. Will this issue be settled through the signature of the president?
