REPORT: Homeless Zgharta family brought to safety, but criminal remains on the loose

Weeks ago, LBCI aired a report about a homeless family living on the streets of Zgharta, a 20-year-old girl who was exploited by a criminal leaving her seven-month pregnant, her younger brother and her mother. They lived seven years without a home, in extreme poverty and malnutrition.

Following the report, the Ministry of Social Affairs took swift action and transported the family to a governmental hospital for medical tests and treatments.

Afterwards, the mother and daughter were transferred to an association specialized with such cases in order to receive psychological and health assessment.

As for the boy, another organization took him in to take care of him, although this organization cares for children with special needs who return to their families at the end of the week.

A beacon of hope appeared in the life of this family, but the criminal who took advantage of the girl remains on the loose, and it is the duty of the authorities and security forces to follow-up on this case and put an end to such crimes.
