Azzi says people who disrespect disabled individuals “need rehabilitation”

Labor minister Sejaan Azzi said on Monday that it is unacceptable to have an employment rate of 85% among the disabled persons, adding that people who disrespect disabled individuals “need rehabilitation.”

Azzi also stated that Labor Ministry requested from the institutions to provide it with a list of disabled employees they recruit when they present documents to its office.

Azzi noted during a press conference that investigations regarding a sugar refinery in the northern town of Chekka are ongoing in order to depict violations, condemning attempts by some officials and lawmakers to press for the release of the two suspects, who are in custody for assaulting one ministry employee.
