Maronite Bishops said Wednesday that the election of a new president is a defining moment in the history of the country, noting that a huge responsibility is awaiting the new president and cabinet.
In a statement following the regular meeting in Bkerke, the bishops praised the efforts deployed by all the political factions and which put an end to the vacuum and wishing President Michel Aoun success in his mission.
The bishops called for a transition to a new phase of political practice that restores the work of the state’s institutions, urging for the formation of a new cabinet as soon as possible.
They also called for a new electoral law that guarantees fair representations.
