REPORT: New case of domestic violence: Woman imprisoned in her own home

In a new case of domestic violence, Oum Salim (Salim’s mother), as she preferred to be called, decided to raise her voice after eight years of imprisonment inside her own marital home, where she was subject to the worst kinds of moral and physical violence and was prevented from seeing her four children.

After the husband threatened her with the force of arms, she escaped her prison and found refuge at her parents’ house and then resorted to the concerned judge.

Her husband has been in jail for almost two weeks and he is due to be released soon, as fears rise from a new form of domestic violence.

The case of Oum Salim and her children is not the first of its kind in Lebanon, but just like other similar cases, it needs justice to be imposed in order to avoid “jungle law” practices.
