Municipal by-elections official results

Municipal councils were formed in Lebanese towns and villages that witnessed municipal and mayoral by-elections on Sunday.        

The Ministry of Interior and Municipalities announced the following official results:        

-  In Rachin, Zgharta, the winners are: 9 candidates from the “Enmaa’ Rachin” (Rachin Development) list supported by the Maradah Movement won, and 6 candidates from the “Rachin al Horra” (Free Rachin) list supported by March 14.       

-  In Aajaltoun, Kesrouan, the “Aajaltoun al Wifaq” (Aajaltoun Accord) list headed by Sheikh Clovis El Khazen won the 12 seats of the municipal council.       

-  In Byakout, North Metn, the “Al Takatof wal Eslah” (Unity and Reform) list headed by Issam Zaynoun won the 9 seats of the municipal council.    

-  In Abey - Ain Drafi, Aley, the Druze-Christian alliance consensus helped the candidates of the “Al Aawda wal Wifaq” (Return and Accord) list win the 15 seats of the municipal council.   

-  In West Bekaa, the winners of Seghbin’s municipal elections are: 12 candidates from the “Al Qarar al Saghbini” (The Saghbini decision) list supported by MP Robert Ghanem, the Lebanese Forces, the Syrian Social Nationalist Party and the Kataeb party, and 3 candidates from the “Al Karama” (Dignity) list supported by the Free Patriotic Movement.       

-  In Bireh, Akkar, it seems that there is a tendency to cancel the municipal elections after the incident that prevented counting the ballot papers in the box number 6 especially after the 5 other boxes showed similar results. The Ministry of Interior asked the Higher Registration Committee about the decision it can take.         

These results will be accepted by some losers but will not be accepted by others who voiced their desire to appeal.
