Mikati:municipal by-elections reflect the desire of the Lebanese people

Prime Minister Najib Mikati confirmed on Tuesday, that the calm witnessed throughout the municipal by-elections reflected the desire of the people for democratic and free elections. He added that the coming year’s parliamentary elections should cast the same spirit, proving that democratic life in Lebanon is fine.

Mikati reiterated in a speech given at the results announcement ceremony and the launch of the start of “strategic planning and workshop development for the Dinniyah area”, that the municipal by-elections that took place in a number of towns and villages across Lebanon on Sunday went through in a calm and democratic manner which in turn reflect the eagerness of the Lebanese to exercise their right to choose their political representatives, without compromising on the importance of municipal work.
