Medvedev gives Putin his list of government ministers

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on Tuesday submitted a list of ministerial candidates to President Vladimir Putin for approval.

Russian television showed pictures of the two meeting in the Moscow Kremlin. Medvedev was shown handing over documents on these proposals for the structure and makeup of the government to newly-inaugurated President Putin.

"I will of course look at the proposal now, I will sign this order on the structure (of government) and I will start consultations with all the relevant candidates you propose for the posts of ministers in the Russian government," said Putin in remarks shown on television.

Putin will not attend this weekend's G8 summit in the United States, but Medvedev goes in his place. The government appointments are expected to be finalized upon Medvedev's return after G8.
